Churches around the world are usually magnificent buildings and Amsterdam has some very
pretty churches! It's not just the way they are built, the clocks chime exceptional
tunes on the hour and on each of the quarters.

OK, before you email me, I know that the Buddist ceremony isn't a building, but as
Nieuwmarkt was being used for the occasion I class it as a church!

The thing about Amsterdam is that there's always something happening, somewhere.

Sint Urbanus (built in 1879) at Duivendrect down in the south-east of the city. Just behind the Metro/Main-line station, it's tucked away almost as if it's in a small village. (It's not my bicycle, honest!) The Zuiderkerk, hidden away in it's own close between St Antonies Breestraat and Nieuwe Hoogstraat.
Oudekerk on Ouderzijds Voorburgwal in the middle of the Red Light area. The tower is lit up at night...erm, so I've been told! A second view of the Oudekerk...unfortunately I didn't notice the guy in the toilet until I transfered the photo to my PC!
Sint Nicolaaskerk is opposite Central Station and looks like it's been moved from Red Square in Moscow. This is the back of the main tower as seen from OuderZijds Voorburgwal. Zuiderkerk again, looking south down Geldersekade from Prins Henrik Kade. The building just past the trees on the right, I've just realised after glancing at my streetmap, is NieuwMarkt.
A Buddist ceremony at Nieuwmarkt...very colourfull. The buildings are lovely too...but look, there's yet another crane in the background!
This Shrine is beautifull and the setting is perfect! Westerkerk on Raadhuisstraat. It's a great building but almost impossible to photograph. Long-shots are blocked by other buildings and mid-range shots are blocked by the trees.
