Trains at Central Station, especially for my Grand-Kids
Ryan (7yrs), Chris (5yrs) and Jay-Jay (2yrs).

Central Station is built on an island on the south bank of Het Ij (the big river running east-west through Amsterdam). It's not exactly in the centre as the north part of Amsterdam is a lot smaller than the south side, but most of the trains, metro, buses and trams terminate or go through Central Station.

It's a magnificent structure. This is one of the 'sheds' - there are two others. Just look at the work that went in to the steel-work in the roof... This is something that we don't see in the UK... we have double-decker buses but not double-decker trains!
There are millions of 'International' visitor to Amsterdam every year, and it's not just people. This is the 'ICE' that runs to Hannover, Germay several times a day. A better view of the 'sharp-end' of a 'High Speed Train'. And just look at the weather!
This is the outside of one of the 'sheds'. There's another one the same size over to the right with a smaller one in-between. 14 platforms in total. The rear of the 'ICE' just before departure.
Two other trains getting ready to go. The double-decker on the right is going away from the camera while the train on the left will come towards us after the 'ICE' moves out of the way. There's also a French train that runs through Belgium to Paris several times a day. I haven't been at Central Station when one's in yet, but I'm sure I'll capture one eventually...
